Memories of Georgie

This is a beautiful poem written by a local author here in Florida;

I WAIT

I wait for you in the morning

when the earth is fresh and new.

Just as the day is dawning,

I wait for you.

At noon I look upon my door,

expecting to see you there,

for you're the one I'm waiting for,

the Lily of the Valley, the Rose, so fair

You, who made the earth, the mountains, the sea,

the stars, the sun, the moon,

will surely take time to come heal me.

I wait for you to be coming soon.

At close of day, when darknes descends,

I say my prayers and call your name.

When sleep won't come and the long night ends,

I wait for you, and a new day begins.

I wait, and it may take a while,

but, I know, someday you will appear,

I'll feel your touch, see your smile,

and you'll say, "lo, my child, I am here."

By June Jobson

I know this was written about a person who was very ill and waiting to die. For some reason, Georgie came into my mind. I can't help but think she must have felt much like this person. I know she didn't want to live with the knowledge of what was going to happen to her and the pain and the anguish it would bring to all who loved her. What a lonely path it is, this thing called death. No matter how much or how many people love you, you must go alone. I pray that when the time finally came, it brought her relief and a reunion that would heal her and free her finally---
